I Miss You Katheryn

I remember mostly her smile.  She always had wonderful warmth about her.  Lighting up the room with her contagious smile and laughter.

She was simple… The first time I was at her apartment in Mission Hills/ Hillcrest, she opened her closet (which was an 1/8th of mine), said something to the effect of, "I don't like having an excess of things".

We had a great time dancing, laughing, and working hard at our craft.  Constantly at San Diego State's coffee shop, grabbing coffee and cigarettes, just to get us through the days.  They were great times and I would not trade them for the world.

Here is an exserpt from a good friend's peom from her book, The Constant Velocity of Trains

V. The Dancer & the Architect

The dancer said:

"I have no word for you but
this artless extension: open chest
a target, weathervane-pointed
to the wind.

I don't know how long I can hold this.
Build me a place to keep it."

The architect rolled his chair
to his desk.

"I have no word for you..." he said

"...but someone must build
and someone must respond.

Someone must feel life run through them like music.

Someone must feel it like atoms colliding.

Someone must feel it like brickwork or feathers.

Someone must feel it in indigo solitude.

Without you, who would be inside?"

Katheryn... we miss you so

With all my love,

Karen
