These are just a very few things about Katie that always make me smile. Hope it makes you smile too!
*The time I was driving next to her for about 3 miles and she never noticed me. I literally did everything I could too - waved, honked, cut her off, nearly smashed into her car. It wasn't until I pulled into the driveway behind her that she smiled and finally noticed me. Always in her own, perfectly content world. Loved that about her.
*Her "belching". Little Katie was so prim and proper, but she would really let out some big ones!!
*Her attempts at riding a bike - she was soooooo slow! (in her own world again without a care)
*The time she went to a Bad Religion show with me because no one else would and I really wanted to go. I left her to hang out near the "pit" because I wanted to be close to the action. I'm sure she probably had a miserable time but she never complained about it.
*Halloween when us girls were all gangsters. I lost my toy gun (the really cool kind that makes smoke) and was super sad about it because I didn't feel like a "real" gangster anymore. Katie gave me hers without a second thought. (Side note: I think I helped prep her for becoming a mother now that I reminisce about some of these stories;)
*The fact that she really expressed herself and her feelings so well. I saw that metamorphosis happen and was so awe stricken by her courage to be so open and honest. It was real love - for herself and those she cared about.
*Her dancing and love of the arts. It opened me up to a lot more. Plus, I stole some good moves from her:)
*The adventure she and I had in a Vegas hotel that we were all staying at. Not even sure I can explain this story, but trust me it was damn funny - my sad attempt at pretending I was French (a bet), one awesome fedora and the security we were convinced was after us (like no one else in Vegas looks suspicious)!
*The last night we spent together, we got to watch the Sex & The City movie together for girls night out. I'm glad she got to see that with us girls (even though not everyone was there).
*Her being a wife and mom. She was so very happy and I am SO glad she got to have that. She really deserved it all.
*Oscar. He really makes me laugh and I see a lot of her in him. Thank you so much for the videos David - they really help keep us connected.
*"If you were born without wings, do nothing to prevent them from growing". It's a Coco Chanel quote and something that Katie essentially gave me (literally, I was selfish and wanted a gift that was meant for her). In ever sense, she embodied this. I'm glad I have it now because it will always make me think of her and all that she was.
Happy Bee Day Miss Katie, sending stings your way!
